NASCAR had released the 2021 Cup Series schedule with some significant changes to the pre-COVID 2020 schedule. But, just as in 2020 due to COVID-19, changes to the 2021 schedule have already begun. The planned schedule included three new road courses and a dirt race at Bristol. The result is that Chicagoland and Kentucky were removed from the schedule. However, with changes already taking place, we have decided to add the races on a month by month basis. 2021 Cup Schedule

What to possibly expect. The March 28 visit to Bristol would be the first dirt race in the premiere series of NASCAR in fifty years. Two months later the series could visit the Circuit of the Americas in Texas for the first time. The All-Star race should move to Texas in June. The following week the series could head to Nashville Superspeedway. That will be followed by the only originally scheduled double-header weekend on the schedule, which will be at Pocono.

Both Sonoma and Watkins Glen are scheduled to return to the schedule in the usual places. Sonoma in June and Watkins Glen in August. Also returning to August is the Brickyard, but this time the series will race on the Road Course at Indianapolis.

The vacated July 4 race weekend by Indy will be filled with the longest track on the schedule. At just over 4 miles the road course of Road America in Wisconsin will be where NASCAR celebrates the 4th.

Michigan’s only appearance on the schedule is after Indy on August 22. It will be followed by the final race of the regular season, which will remain at Daytona.

The races of the playoffs remain the same. The final races of the rounds remain Bristol, Charlotte Roval and Martinsville.
