1968 Ford Galaxie 500

Question:
I have a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible 302 ci and I want to repaint the air cleaner but come to find out they used two different colors of blue and I need to know the name or part number for the correct color.....the VIN# is 8E57F2536657, the car was manufactured in Mahwah, New jersey. I hope you can tell me the correct color to put on it. Thanks for your time and attention.

59 Fairlane 500 2 dr. Ht

I have purchased (3) "0" gold trunk lid covers and all three are a different style than the one that came on my car. I had sent my original to Nu-chrome in Mass. to refinish last Aug. and cannot get it back. (No Answer) (Bankrupt) Question, Is the Retractable HT have different style that the Galaxie & Fairlane 500's?

Harold, if you are talking about the 5 0 0 that goes under the fairlane script, the retractable is different than the others because one of the zeros swings open do you can get the key in to open the trunk whereas the retractable has no keyed trunklid. I believe the other numbers are the same on both models. I hope you get your parts back, they're a pain to find any.

I know the center swings, but the ones I purchased on the net have a different style. I know the 59's where the only models to have three indepentant numbers on the trunk lid. My numbers are flat face then rounds off toward the body. The ones I purchased have flat surface the angle about 45 degree for a 1/4 inch the angles again toward the body also about a 1/4 inch. Hope you can Help. Note I sent another question today asking the same info please disreguard that one.

I have 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 xl. Wondering what years can I use to interchange on body/chassis? Wondering if 61 or 63 body will work for 62 500 xl.

'61 and '62 bodies are interchangeable....'60 is wider and '63 /'64 will not. '61 /'62 frames can be used on any 2 dr, 4 dr... convertible has the huge X crossmember and you have to cut the floor to make it work.

The 7-Liter was an option package. You could get the 428 without the 7-Liter option.

Was it possible for a customer to order a 1966 Galaxie 500, and not a XL, just a Galaxie 500, 2dr. fastback, split bench, automatic on the colunm, AC, power steering, manual brakes, and a 427, 4 bbl. engine?

The 427 engine was strictly manual steering & brakes and no AC or automatic, only 4-speed. It was available in any body style except wagons.

Unfortunately they are 1 year only. 1970 panels will fit the door but you have to convert the inner door handle hardware from the "squeeze" type of the '69 to the more conventional pull type of the '70.

What color was the underbody of a 63 Galaxie. My car is painted Rangoon Red on the exterior body. Also what colors are the engine compartment?

The engine compartment & engine block are black but depending on your engine size the air filter and valve covers are as follows for a 289 is red, 352ci is Ford blue, 390ci is gold and a 406 is silver

1964 is the last year of the basic engineering of that platform. '65 was totally different.
