Wisdom of the Week
It is a gorgeous day in Daytona Beach. We've had evenings, we've been racing in the 40s, the tires were giving off sparks. But, it's the warmest day of the month here, 75 degrees.

Mike Joy giving the weather forecast for the 2015 Daytona 500 during the pace laps. How do tires give off sparks?
Wisdom of the Past
That's what you have to watch out for in that rush hour traffic. Those old people that have lost their patience. [laughter by Allen Bestwick and Andy Petree] Older I should say.

Dale Jarrett commenting following a radio communication between Jeff Burton and his crew following Burton being spun early in the Cup race by Carl Edwards.
These cars Mike, just like electronical problems with the 42 car...

D-W speaking of how rain affects the cars after a rain delay at Talladega in the Aaron's 499. I hate it when my car has electronical problems.
But, not only is it abrasive, it's rough too!

Phil Parsons talking about the racing surface at Rockingham Speedway during the Truck Series race at lap 42 on SPEED. What he meant is the surface is abrasive creating tire wear and bumpy making it hard for the tires to grip the abrasive surface. This, by the way, isn't a bad thing as it adds character to the track and puts more of the race on the driver to show their abilities.
I didnít know if we had enough straight road in North Carolina to get going that quick, but apparently there is a piece somewhere.

Dale Jr. commented on Kyle Busch getting caught going 128 MPH in a 45 MPH zone in Iredell County, North Carolina.
If it is any constellation, he [Kasey Kahne] did that last night and got away with it and came home with a good finish.

Darrell Waltrip talking about Kahne hitting the wall after losing focus for a second in turn two around lap 90 of the Showtime Southern 500 at Darlington on 5/7/11.
I don't think he [Richard Childress] could fit in the window.

Randy Lajoie during the first caution at Memphis in the Nationwide Series race on October 24, 2009. His comment followed Rusty Wallace confirming that he didn't say that Richard Childress was driving the 29 car, but was the owner.
To have a good Hall of Fame you got to have a good foundation. Who was the guys that gave us a chance to get in the Hall of Fame? That was what I was looking at. But then I go back and I said well from a PR standpoint, they don't want five people underground, who are they going to interview.

Richard Petty on Speed's Trackside show, 10-16-09.
Jimmie Johnson, now he's run Montoya down pretty quickly by running quite a bit faster lap times.

Andy Petree on ABC, 10-11-09, during the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway finally tells the fans just how to catch somebody pretty quickly on the race track.
Denny said he was going to send me a bill (for airplane ride home after Dover) and I said I've got some things going on down in the Caymans, with some money that I've got down there. And if I can get any freed up and loosened up and headed this way I'll send you a check," said Michael Waltrip.
"You should go talk to Helio [Castroneves]," said Chad Knaus. Waltrip responded, "He's the one that told me about it. That's where I got it from. I think I'm okay.

Michael Waltrip and Chad Knaus on This Week in NASCAR on Speed, 6-1-09.
If my wheel comes off and I hit the fence real hard, I get to wack every damn one of you with a hammer. Is that a deal? You all need some incentive to keep my tires on obviously.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., 3-8-09
Robby [Gordon] is another one of those that likes to scrape it up against the wall. Look at the right side of Robby's car, kind of looks like he gave it the full Logano.

Mike Joy - 117 laps to go at Atlanta, 3-8-09
I just can't believe how he [Allmendinger] has improved as a driver. When he first got into these cars he was as lost as an Easter egg.

Darrell Waltrip, 2-7-09
